9/365: reading


I love reading!  I love books, the way they feel and smell and draw me in. Novels I can get lost in. Children's books I can read aloud to a class, holding their attention as I hold the book up at that "teacher" angle. Research books on education with so much information I can't take it all in. Reading and re-reading worn out books with Sofia as a baby and now over and over as a 'big kid'.  I love magazines and catalogs and emails and texts, I love reading!  I especially love sharing reading with Sofia!  She reveals more and more to me everyday about the knowledge she has and I have loved seeing her interest in books grow.  We have just started reading a series of beginning level chapter books at bedtime and I love how excited she is to read another 3 chapters each night!  Reading is  happy power!

    I think about how lucky I am to be a teacher and to have a reason to be surrounded by all kinds of books ALL THE TIME!
