Some of you know this, but I am going there again. It was big news when Tops Friendly Markets opened in Spencerport. It was absurd how happy I was when I heard it was in the works. My anticipation of its opening day last summer was ridiculous! It is not just that it is Tops, the market I grew up with, the only big grocery chain in Niagara county at the time, it was having a neighborhood grocery store that actually carries things I need and is convenient. When we moved here we had an IGA (we called it Igia) it was kind of old and dingy and I only stopped there if I was in a pinch or only needed milk or something. It was more pricey and carried fewer things. Then it closed and for 4 years (?) we had no grocery store here, just whatever the gas stations carried. Then Tops swooped in and saved the day. They reorganized the plaza and the traffic pattern and all the storefronts got a cute face lift, it was win win! Now it is shiny and clean and new and carries almost everything you ever thought you'd need and it is right here! It isn't even out of the way for my two mile daily commute!
Today was definitely a Tops day. I stopped in to pick up some of the regular weekly things we need, yogurt, cereal, the usual! I did it in record time and was in and out of the store, and even returned cans and bottles in the process. Within an hour or so of leaving Tops, dad asked me to pick up bread on our way over to his house for dinner, and I was happy to do so! It was so nice to run in, buy yummy bread and run out without worrying that it would take some planning the next time I ran out of something or remembered something I forgot (like milk, I think I am going to need to pick some up tomorrow!) I was even proudly stating that it was funny I was in there two times today and had also stopped on Thursday after work. It is just extremely nice to have a grocery store close by. So I'll be back there probably tomorrow or the next day and it will make me smile!
