27/365: skiing--beyond the living room

Today dad and I got a chance to attempt to pass on a winter past time. When I was little I remember cross-country skiing often, it may not have been all that many times, but that is how I remember it.  Mom and Dad and some friends would go up to Bond's Lake or we'd find a trail to try.  I remember having a tough time, but working really hard to get good at it.  Gliding down inclines and hills was the best part.  2 or 3 years ago, Dad got Sofia her own pair of cross-country skis.  He bought them used and painted them her very favorite color: orange!  She was thrilled, until we took her outside, she loved trying them on in the house and pretending to ski in the living room. We bundled her up and took her out- she didn't get far, it was cold and windy and she decided pretty quickly that she'd rather do her own thing or go inside.  The next time she tried, she did better, but didn't seem to love it.  Today we got an unexpected opportunity to ski again and she was rocking the skis!  We mostly stayed in the yard where Sof was in control, talking her way around and back and forth.  It was a great day to be skiing, not windy, not too cold, not too warm...I even got her to follow me down to a nearby field to try the country part of the skiing! I think she might be hooked!  We headed home for cocoa, a must have after being outside in January!

This was the only video I could get to upload, sorry about the shaky factor!  We are very proud of her ability to get up after falling!
