8/365-Driving with out crazy
This afternoon and last Thursday I had the unique experiences of driving alone in my van in relatively good weather conditions, (read: snow but sunny, mainly dry roads) both times I found my self thankful to not be in a hurry rushing to get somewhere. It was so nice to drive calmly with things right at hand where I needed them to be, sunglasses, lip balm, music, wallet at the ready. I often am swearing because I can't find what I need and am struggling to reach something just out of reach or I can't focus because of distractions from the back seat, or I have been too rushed to put my feet all the way into my shoes or to adjust my seat belt and coat comfortably! It was really nice to be anxiety free and very comfortable during my car ride. I ran errands, stopping at several different places and I wasn't crazed when I got there, it was nice! I really enjoyed the drive, not just the destination. This evening I was sitting at an exceptionally long light facing west, no one was behind me and I just got to sit and watch clouds blow across the setting sun, it was lovely! I could have sat through another cycle of the light, I'll have to remember this the next time I am driving like a crazed fool!
