13/365:Slippers

It is a good time of year to know where your slippers are!  I never thought of myself as a slipper person, but I have to say, I really do enjoy them in the winter!  I have even been known to take them along with me when I am going someplace I know I will have to take off my shoes. I have been leaving a pair at the bottom of the stairs so I can pop them on in the mornings and I have a pair by the door to the garage where I can put them on as the boots come off. I hate it when wet boots track in water and I step on a wet spot on the floor in my socks, so slippers help!  Dad was over tonight for dinner and mentioned that he was looking forward to putting on his slippers when he got home and I could totally relate!  We suggested he leave a pair at our house for just such an evening.  That launched into a discussion about which slippers were the best value for the money and what our preferences in slippers were.  Dad's faves currently are his LL Bean, wicked good slippers.  Mine are Easy Spirit slides, I have two pair, they go through the washer on a regular basis! I usually buy German a pair for Christmas Eve that have a rubber sole, good for the occasional trot into the garage or driveway. I think I'm more interested in this purchase than he is! This year I bought German and Andy the same pair, orange with rubber soles, from Old Navy, comfy and cute, (yet manly). But again, I think I liked them better than either one of them did!   I just like to be sure everyone's feet are comfortable and warm!  Hopefully, Andy will wear his, he keeps his apartment like a meat locker!!! (Yes you do,too!) German wears slippers on occasion, when he can find them, or when he notices I have just borrowed them to run outside! Above is a picture of some of my slippers.  Let me break it down for you:  the cloud ones do feel like you are walking on a cloud, so I only wear those for relaxing occasions.  The lamb ones, while cute, are not comfy, the rubber dots that keep you from slipping hurt the bottoms of my feet! My white cherry ones I love, but don't wear, they're white for goodness sake! The fuzzy pair have rubber bottoms and get good use, but aren't my first choice. And of course the worn out, work-a-day Easy spirits, are there too--I'm  not sure where my second pair are, under a chair somewhere??  I just remembered that I have another pair Andy cast off a couple of Christmases ago, that are either in my car or at work... oh, hell I guess that seals it:  I am definitely a slipper person! Oh... and the little sweet peace sign ones?  I got those for Sof this year for Christmas Eve, she looks adorable in them. (I will even admit that I got her another pair: pink, fuzzy, cute hearty ones, I couldn't help myself!!)!  I am looking forward to hanging out in my slippers a lot this 3 day weekend! I wish you all a comfy pair of your own and warm, happy toes!

  1. I wore Andy's orange ones the other day when I was at the meat locker....they were huge, but kept my toes warmer!
