Ok, strange and random thoughts here, I have been awake at 5 two mornings in a row and I think my night owl brain is a leetle bit addled...but to
piggy back on my previous post, the blog-o-sphere has taught me something new again-this time before 7am-cra-zzy. I had never heard of a
salt pig, until just this morning I read about it when someone mentioned it on the Tour of homes from
Bowl Full of Lemons, so of course that got me google-ing and I was educated. A salt pig is a wide mouth container to made to hold coarse salt for cooking by the stove. Many of them look like a piece of bent PVC pipe, but I am posting an image I found that is much piggier:
It is cute, right? I don't think I suddenly need to have one in my kitchen, but I have had my eye out for a salt cellar...
...and I have finally found one I like, ala Hoosier cabinet style from Crate and Barrel, its perfect, I should just order it. So now I am off to start my Wednesday and to look up the history of salt cellars!
So just to add to this strange week that we are only in the middle of, this wraps my post on salty containers-weird! PS-I don't even have or use coarse salt-but soon maybe??
