We said goodbye and headed back south to go east back to Michigan. we were going to take a ferry ride across Lake Michigan, but you wouldn't believe the unreasonable schedule and prices of that. Ironically, mapquest insisted that we take that route back-we ignored mapquest!
Our "in the car mantra" of zero anxiety- go with the flow-ride where our moods take us--- was tested a bit as we headed out, but we finally made it and stopped out at Half Moon Lake where more cousins were! I NEVER would have been able to find thier cottage without a backseat navigator! Lots of twisty dirt roads! But worth the adventure! We swam in the lake, ate s'mores and batted at a thousand mosquitoes! I was really glad we got a chance to go there. I had been once when I was a teenager maybe and I enjoyed seeing the changes and getting to see the next generation of cousins enjoying the great out doors! It was wonderful! (Did you know there are tons of gorgeous little lakes throughout the state of Michigan? Thanks receding glacier!)
