It was not the vast expanse of a field that I expected, but it was really a cool thing to see nestled in between buildings. A unique art installation for sure!

89/365 wavy grass...
While Sofia got some extra time to play with her newfound cousins, a few of the adults decided to venture out in the late afternoon. I really do like Ann Arbor and rarely get to go there and then I don't usually have time to sight see while we are there. So on this Sunday after the wedding, I thought it would be nice to take a drive to see something I had heard of, but had never actually visited. It is a wave field. An art installation of mounds of well-taken care of grass that resemble waves in the ocean. I pictured it as a huge field that would span as far as the eye could see. What it turned out to be was a little bit of a goose chase. We parked on the edge of the U of M campus, near all the engineering buildings, (the north campus I think?). I went with Dad, Aunts Ellen and Alice, and Mary all U of M alum. There was so much construction and new areas built that we ended up taking quite a walk around. I was treated to stories from dad about his schooling and enjoyed hearing all of them talk about which buildings they remembered where and how it all had changed and evolved over time. As we wandered we walked along a road that had treed area on the other side-we were surprised to see deer grazing right there in broad daylight, on the edge of the tree line. Finally, we turned a corner by the wind tunnel and dad stopped to check out a plane prototype on display in a glassed in lobby, I wandered on ahead and saw the field. It was surrounded by construction fence and campus buildings, but it was a lovely green, wavey grassy area. There were two people sitting on one of the mounds, chatting and enjoying the afternoon, I felt like we were invading a little but we did venture in to get a closer look and to take pictures. As we headed back to the car, other college students were coming and settling into the valleys to study and relax.
It was not the vast expanse of a field that I expected, but it was really a cool thing to see nestled in between buildings. A unique art installation for sure!
