86/365 thunder: confessions of a wimpy weather geek!

I get a little worked up when thunderstorms are in the area, I'll admit i was once extremely terrified of them.  I used to have to seek out my parents in the middle of the night during a strong storm, and even as an adult I was quite nervous when a storm was on the move.  now that I am a parent and teacher, and am often with children during a storm, I have had to man up, I didn't want Sof to be afraid of thunder and I often tell her the story of when she first heard thunder as a baby in her high chair and how she laughed at it!  So now I am still concerned and have a heightened sense of the weather when storms are forecasted, but now I check the radar, look at barometric readings and check the skies. I think I still get a little nervous and Sof does too, but it is how I deal!  Today we have severe storm watches in effect for our area all day, so my eye and ear will be on the sky and on the local radar!  I will say this, I really do enjoy the slow, quiet rumbles of a summer storm rolling across the sky as we had a few hours ago, but I am really uncomfortable when lightening and thunder are too close together!
